Andrea Evans (Rebecca) has been named the 2005 Celebrity Ambassador for City of Hope's Walk for Hope to Cure Breast Cancer. Ms. Evans, a long time supporter of the City of Hope, has a particular affinity for the biomedical research and treatment facility as her mother is a breast cancer survivor. This is the fifth year in a row that she will serve in this capacity. Walks for Hope to Cure Breast Cancer will take place in 13 cities across the country to support breast cancer research at the City of Hope.
"City of Hope is proud to welcome back Andrea Evans as our 2005 Celebrity Ambassador of the Walk for Hope to Cure Breast Cancer," said Michael A. Friedman, MD, President and CEO of City of Hope National Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute. "By bringing her mother's story of struggle with the disease to this cause, Andrea's steadfast support has helped raise awareness and educate women in communities nationwide."
"As the daughter of a breast cancer survivor, I am thrilled to be a part of this campaign that continues to grow year after year," said Evans. "We are on the cusp of major advances. It is research like that being done at City of Hope that will save others like my mom and create a legacy of health for our daughters and generations to come."
While Andrea currently plays Rebecca Hotchkiss, she is also well known for starring roles on "One Life To Live," "The Young and the Restless" and "The Bold and the Beautiful."
The City of Hope National Medical Center and Beckman Research Institute, a National Cancer Institute designated Comprehensive Cancer Center located in the Greater Los Angeles area, is one of the world's leading research and treatment centers for cancer and other serious diseases including diabetes and HIV/AIDS.
