Hi folks,
This is my first post; I felt the need to voice my opinion on the "adoption-bashing" currently happening on Passions. Whitney gave up her baby for adoption, and YES, it's gross that incest is involved. But I'm offended by the CONSTANTLY repeated lines like "you threw away your baby like a piece of garbage!"
I know, it's just a soap, but this really sends the wrong message. How many impressionable kids are watching Passions, as they decide what to do about their unwanted pregnancy? Giving a kid up for adoption is, in my opinion, the BEST option for someone in that position. After all the insults and accusations, I'll bet Whitney wishes she'd had an abortion. It would've been easier.
I'm pro-choice, and I believe a woman (and a man, if he's involved) should get to decide the fate of an unwanted pregnancy... I hope the writers of Passions were not intentionally trying to influence people to reject adoption.
And what about all the viewers who are adopted or have given up a kid for adoption? All these references to "throwing out your baby like a piece of trash" really hurt.
They need to drop this storyline quick, or change the tone of the dialog!
